Why neuter your cat?

  • Female cats come into season from 6months old and breed
twice a year. Sadly, there are not homes enough for all the
kittens born. Continuous breeding is not good for the cat.
  • Kept indoors the cat will come in season repeatedly during
spring and autumn, becoming very agitated each time. She is at
risk of developing pyometra, a womb problem requiring urgent
    spaying.
  • a cat can come in season again and get pregnant even before
the kittens are weaned. Get her spayed when they are 6-7
    weeks old.
  • The uncastrated male cat will go a long way in search of
females. He may be missing for days at a time and come back
frequently with cat bite abscesses. He is at high risk of catching
    FIV (feline AIDS).
  • He may not come back - because they travel a long way, tom
cats are frequently killed on the road.
  • If he is kept indoors he is likely to spray urine round the house -
tom cat urine is one of the most persistent smells known.
