DOGS
Why neuter your dog
For a bitch:
- To prevent unwanted pregnancies - a bitch comes into season
twice a year and the season lasts three weeks. Some breeds
have very large litters, any pregnancy is some risk to the bitch.
- To prevent 'false pregnancies' which some bitches get after
each season, and which make them very miserable.
- To prevent pyometra - the common womb problem of the
middle aged or elderly unspayed bitch which can require
emergency surgery to save her life.
For a male dog:
- To reduce sex-linked behaviour problems - roaming, fighting,
aggression. Castration will not make a bouncy dog less active,
he may concentrate better though, and be easier to train.
- To reduce the risk of prostate disease or testicular cancer in
later life.
Please ring or email us if you have any questions about this.
