RABBITS
Why neuter your rabbit?

  • if you have two rabbits of different sexes, (which
often happens by mistake: telling the sex of a
baby rabbit is not easy) they will breed - like
rabbits! Castrating the male is the best option.
Do it early: they can become sexually active
    around four months old.
  • two rabbits of the same sex may fight. They will
live together more peacefully if neutered.
  • Unneutered rabbits of both sexes can be restless
and aggressive, especially when the female's
hormones are active. Neutered, they make better
    pets.
  • there is  a high risk of cancer of the uterus in
    middle-aged  female rabbits

Although the anaesthetics used for rabbits
are not licensed for that species, they are
widely used and reasonably safe.
Anaesthetising rabbits does carry a higher
risk than it does for dogs, cats or ferrets.

Myxomatosis
is fatal to rabbits and can be caught even by
indoor rabbits. Ask about vaccination.
